Coconut oil is one of the healthiest cooking oils which help you lose weight and burn belly fat. As coconut oil contains a unique combination of fatty acids, this oil is considered as the most weight loss friendly oil. It has a powerful impact on your metabolism, which in turn, aids weight loss.

How does it help?

Many studies have also proved that by just adding coconut oil to your diet, you can lose abdominal fat. Coconut oil consists of medium chain triglycerides and fatty acids that help in boosting metabolism. Mostly, foods contain long-chain fatty acids but coconut oil contains medium-chain fatty acids. These are sent to the liver from the digestive tract where either they are used for producing energy or converted into ketone bodies. When they turn into ketone bodies (which liver produces on eating coconut oil), they have a powerful impact on appetite reduction.

One study which was conducted on rats also showed that when rats were fed medium chain fatty acids, they gained 20 per cent less weight and 23 per cent less body fat.

Coconut oil helps in burning calories

Coconut oil has an important property, which is referred to as its 'thermogenicity'. This means that eating coconut oil tends to increase energy level and boost fat burning process. In a few other findings, it was shown that when humans replace normal fats with medium-chain fats, they tend to burn more calories. It proved that calories you get from coconut oil are not the same as those you get from other oils (though they might be healthy too).

How coconut oil reduces your appetite

When you have a low appetite, you eat less and without even trying much, you tend to lose weight. Experts are of the opinion that medium chain acids in coconut oil increase your feeling of fullness. This results in less intake of calories and you maintain a healthy weight. This is the reason these fats are well metabolized and are good for your body.

Coconut oil helps in losing belly fat

A well-boosted metabolism and reduced appetite help you lose stubborn abdominal fat. A study was conducted to prove the same. 40 women were given 2 tbsp of either coconut oil or soybean oil. They were instructed to eat fewer calories and walk every day. When the results came, it was found out that both groups lost weight. But the difference was that women who consumed coconut oil had decreased waist circumference while women who ate soybean oil had mildly increased belly fat. Also, it was noticed that women who had coconut oil had increased HDL, which is good cholesterol level, and the other set of women who had soybean oil had reduced HDL but increased LDL, which is bad cholesterol level. However, in the study, it was also shown that though coconut oil didn’t make a huge difference in weight loss compared to soybean oil, it did help in losing belly fat.

What should you be aware of?

Coconut oil also contains fat. If you are eating a fixed number of calories every day and on top of it, adding coconut oil to your diet, you might gain weight. Hence, it is advisable to know how much calories your body requires and count the number of calories you intake.

Iced Turmeric Latte

I recently shared my easy turmeric latte recipe with you, and today I want to offer-up an iced turmeric latte for those who prefer cold drinks. I always tend to gravitate towards iced coffees, iced teas and other cold drinks, myself!

This iced turmeric latte recipe is yet another great way to incorporate the healing benefits of turmeric in your daily routine. It’s also a wonderful way to utilize the turmeric golden paste that you may have on hand.

Iced Turmeric Latte Recipe

Turmeric is such a powerful spice! It’s been used for centuries by people from all around the world to treat a myriad of common ailments from cold and flu to arthritis and beyond. Turmeric is even thought to help treat and prevent some types of cancer. While I’m not sure if this is true, the research is compelling enough to give this fabulous ingredient some close study.

I feel like we’re really only scratching the surface when it comes to understanding just how powerful this ingredient can be in our lives, but one thing is certain, getting a little turmeric into your diet each week is great for your overall health and wellness.

Of course, you should definitely consult your physician before taking turmeric during pregnancy.

As with any ingredient or home remedy, turmeric should be just one small part of an overall healthy lifestyle. In other words, enjoy this turmeric iced latte a couple times a week, not three times a day, every day!

I especially love adding a little turmeric to my diet when I feel those first sniffles coming on.

Iced Turmeric Latte Recipe

Enjoy the many health benefits of turmeric with this yummy and easy to make iced turmeric latte.

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Add the hot water to your blender then pour in the instant espresso powder, allow to dissolve, add the coconut cream or coconut oil and golden paste or ground turmeric.
  2. When the coconut cream or oil has melted, add the coffee creamer. Blend on high for about 30 seconds or until combined and frothy. Allow the latte to cool for a few minutes before pouring over ice.
  3. Optional, sprinkle a little extra ground turmeric on top.
